Although MacPaint is no longer on sale, programs such as PaintShop and QuickTime can be used to open MAC images. MAC is also the filename extension of 720 by 576 pixels black and white bitmaps files used to store illustrations created with MacPaint, an older digital painting software for Macintosh computers. Some programs capable of creating MAC macro files include Dynamics GP, Cakewalk, UltraEdit, Cabri II Plus and Minitab. These MAC files are usually executed by the program used to create them. A MAC (macro) file contains a sequence of computer commands and functions used to automate repetitive tasks such as updating locally stored information, sending data to a remote API, performing complex calculations, generating graphics templates etc. A MAC file usually contains a macro created by computer programming tools or task automation software. MAC files mostly belong to Dynamics GP by Microsoft.
